Datalight Speaks at Embedded World on Improving Linux Boot Time and Reliability Testing Strategies

BOTHELL, Wash., – October 26, 2017 – Datalight Inc., leading developer of software for Internet of Things devices, announced today that Thom Denholm, Technical Product Manager for Datalight, has been invited to speak at the upcoming Embedded World conference in Nuremberg, Germany, to be held February 27 - March 1, 2018. Mr. Denholm will present two technical sessions covering techniques for improving boot times on Linux and for designing more robust reliability testing.

As Internet of Things devices become more pervasive and are used as important controls of infrastructure such as pipelines, electrical grid controls and autonomous vehicles, ensuring responsive start up time is critical. Linux is a popular choice for the operating system in these devices but suffers from boot times that are often measured in minutes; the impact of this delay can be costly. The techniques Mr. Denholm will describe can reduce boot time dramatically.

Another key requirement for critical infrastructure is reliability. Despite significant investment in testing, failures in the field still occur. Mr. Denholm's talk will provide insight that will allow developers to build test plans to assure a more robust and failure-free operation.
