Insyde Software uplifts Firmware Security with Platform Firmware Resiliency
Press Release
TAIPEI, TAIWAN, July 30, 2020 Insyde® Software, a leading provider of UEFI BIOS and systems management software, today announced that its products, InsydeH2O® UEFI BIOS, and Supervyse® management firmware now supports the latest NIST SP 800-193 compliant (PFR) Platform Firmware Resiliency guidelines. This will help enable Insyde Software’s customers to design more secure platforms that are hardened against the increasing amounts of malicious and potentially destructive malware attacks.
NIST SP 800-193 and the Platform Firmware Resiliency implementation represents a set of technical guidelines defined by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to help design and deploy computing devices that are more resilient to sophisticated attacks. These guidelines are based on three important principles that address the security and integrity of the hardware and firmware components that initialize, boot and manage computer systems:
- Protection: Ensure platform firmware code and critical data are protected, along with the authenticity and integrity of firmware updates
- Detection: Be able to detect if platform firmware code and critical data has been corrupted
- Recovery: Restore platform firmware code and critical data to a state of integrity after detection of corruption
“InsydeH2O and Supervye’s support for Platform Firmware Resiliency underscores our commitment to providing trusted firmware protections that leverage the latest security technologies and standards,” said Tim Lewis, CTO and head of the Office of Security & Trust at Insyde Software. “Helping our customers design and deliver the most securely hardened products possible to market is something we take great pride in,” added Lewis.
